A group of Fressingfield children recently headed off to Norwich on our annual RE trip

First we visited Norwich Synagogue. We knew it was a little different, as we could see Hebrew writing. But we recognised the Jewish Star of David. We met Deborah, who was warm, friendly and very informative. We did some role-play, imagining we were part of a Jewish family, celebrating the Sabbath (or Shabbat). Deborah shared some Jewish bread (Challah) and we lit a menorah. It all felt a little bit special. Also, we started to connect other ancient religions, like Islam and Christianity.

In the afternoon, we crossed over the road into an enormous building – it was Norwich Catholic Cathedral of St John the Baptist. This was an amazing feast for our eyes. All around were sights, colours and smells – and the strange busy sound of praying and worshipping. Our guide, Christina, took us all around, showing artworks, votive candles, statues and stained glass. Each one had a story behind it. Even the room we had our lunch in had a tale of live and power!  We left feeling we had spent time in a beautiful, holy place.

The Christian Journey of Life and Death

Many thanks to Reverend Susan who gave a great talk on The Christian Journey of Life and Death. And thank you too, to key stage 2 children who listened so well, and asked such deep and thoughtful questions.

Congo Class learns about Incarnation

Children in Congo Class visited St Peter and St Paul’s Church, whilst learning all about Incarnation. The children were detectives, finding ‘I am …’ clues from St John’s gospel. Great work finding all those clues, everybody!

Fressingfield Reflection Shed

Our-Reflection-Shed

A big thank you to some of our Year 5s, who helped to paint the interior of our Reflection Shed.

And an even bigger thank you to all our Shed Monitors, who have happily spent some of their lunchtimes overseeing children who spend time in our Shed.Last half-term’s theme, Rainbows, was really enjoyed by everybody.

This half-term’s theme is Advent or The Coming.  We are very excited to be sharing this with you all!

Reflection Shed

We now have our very own Reflection Shed!  Many thanks to the monitors in Congo Class, who have been helping children by showing them how to use the artefacts in our Reflection Shed.  Our first theme was Rainbows, and was very popular with children.  What an amazing rainbow you all made out of handprints!  Lots of you also said you liked decorating the prayer tree and holding the ‘worry balls’.  And a few of you even managed to make your own rainbows using the torch and prism.

This half-term’s theme is Respect.  There are some interesting and exciting activities on this theme, for children of all ages.  Come and take a peek!
